A few years ago when I became president of Blacksmith and Company, we were manufacturing and offering many types of colored gemstones, diamonds, and custom jewelry. Blacksmith and Company had truly become a "Jack of all trades but a master of none." Unfortunately, in today's competitive jewelry world, men’s jewelry was severely overlooked in the market place, and women’s jewelry still does not offer the option to be unique without going full custom. Blacksmith and Company needed to bring back the quality of gemstones and craftsmanship in metal work that defined the jewelers of "The Old World."
So I set forth to challenge my in-house design staff and manufacturing division to develop a semi-custom production men’s and women’s line that would provide our clients with the quality, craftsmanship, metal weight, and innovative design every person truly deserves. I only allowed for the most exclusive of precious metals to be used with a specialization in Palladium (Pd950), the most reflective member of the Platinum metal family. If gold was requested it would only be the best 18k or 950 highly reflective yellow gold (950kt) also known by the general public as 22kt. The option of non-traditional gold tones such as rose, green and peach were added to provide unlimited combinations to create truly unique pieces.
The gemstones and diamonds would be hand-picked from one of our many direct mine sources or my personal collection. The cutting of the rough gemstone material would be handled by our award winning lapidaries. This would be the only way to offer a client the option of custom tailoring any piece from our production line without utilizing our VIP Concierge Service. It is also my belief that luxury options should be available to all levels of the consumer market. To meet these distinct needs we carry four different levels of our men’s jewelry and two levels of women’s jewelry in limited edition series. We are also the exclusive distributor of the House of Gio (pronounced Jo`) designs signed and numbered line.
Even today, Blacksmith and Company carries on the time-honored tradition and art of crafting metal. As one of the world’s leading distributors and manufactures of semi custom men’s jewelry, we specialize in 950 Palladium the most reflective member of the Platinum group. Although it was discovered in 1803, Palladium was not used in jewelry until 1939 when platinum was reserved for military use. This allowed Palladium to out shine Platinum, literally, as one of Palladiums many noble features is that its whiter than Platinum. Palladium is also hypoallergenic and lighter in weight than its metal group counterpart. This allows for a better finish and polish, and its lighter weight lends to larger, stronger designs and creations capable of holding the large carat, exotic gemstones that has become known as a trademark of Blacksmith and Company.
